sad times
I thought to myself today, "I am going to blog and finally post those pictures of the stuff that I have made" then tragedy struck. It is so sad that in a few moments someone's whole world can change. That whether or not you will see someone seems to just hang in the air like a stale musk. A town near to me was hit today by a tragic tornado. It was on the ground for 45 minutes wreaking havoc as it went. I watched the radar hoping the storm would not come my way and it didn't. It just streaked just south of me to touchdown a monster that demolished building and stole innocent lives. At this point we are at 51 confirmed dead and still 40 children missing. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy. Let us hope for a better and brighter tomorrow.

Scrub
So, I made a sugar scrub with lavender and chamomile. I thoroughly enjoyed it...It made my face feel fresh and soft. Also, my skin felt tightened....I will post pictures later of the process that I used to create the scrub. I am about to tackle creating a dandelion salve, body and face wash with lavender and coconut oil. I plan to take pictures of the entire process for each one that I create. I am super excited.

Here goes nothing...
I have finally procured some fresh lavender, dandelion root and chamomile at a reasonable price. I also stopped at Akins and picked up some bee's wax and almond oil. I am going to start by making a salve for my wonderful boyfriend, Joey. He tends to have shoulder pain and such from when he injured it while in the Marine Corps and I found an easy recipe for a dandelion salve for muscle aches and pain. The recipe calls for the flower as a whole and I only have the root. I am going to do a bit more research on the plant as a whole and decide if I need to go out flower picking or if I can get started right here and right now with the root. Wish me luck! Will post back with progress pictures.

New Beginnings
New Beginnings for everything and this is my new journey into something that I have no experience in only excitement at the possibilities. I have always enjoyed making things. I have always loved taking recipes and changing them to make them better for me. I truly believe that we can be a society that can live off of the natural herbal remedies of our ancestors. There is so much healing in the earth. Now, I am dedicated to delving into this adventure. I have made my lists and have decided that I will go ahead and begin by practicing with my own products. I have made plans to replace the things that I use in my daily personal care. I have a wonderful supportive boyfriend who is willing to help me get my dream going. I hope this goes as well as I envision it. Wish me luck!
